Google Developing Smart Contact Lenses That Measure Glucose Levels

Google announced that it is working on a smart lenses project. The contact lenses would contain a wireless chip and sensor to help people monitor their glucose levels. The contacts measure the glucose levels in tears. Tears are normally difficult to collect and study, but the contact lenses technology could make it easy.
Google says it is in discussions with the FDA. They plan to look for partners to develop the technology down the road and develop apps for the smart contacts.
Google says, "We've always said that we'd seek out projects that seem a bit speculative or strange, and at a time when the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) is declaring that the world is 'losing the battle' against diabetes, we thought this project was worth a shot."
